Central South focusing on Life Sciences

Published: December 23 2022

Members of the Regenerate South Action Group met at Salisbury Hospital to gain an insight into the opportunity the Central South has regarding leading the way in Life Sciences.

Professor John Denham of the Southern Policy Centre took the group through the finer details of the emerging Life Sciences cluster in the Central South.

Additionally, Salutem Developments promoted its exciting new initiative at Salisbury Hospital, the Salisbury Health Education And Technology (HEAT) project. It will extend the hospital facilities and create a new life science campus on adjoining land which will include an innovation centre, along with training facilities for NHS staff.

Following the meeting, the group toured the Salisbury Hospital site to see the difference the new development will make.

Leigh-Sara Timberlake, Group CEO of Business South, said: “This was the first meeting we have held in South Wiltshire, and we hope it will be an opportunity to work more closely in the future.

“The HEAT project is a great example of the innovative approach which is being taken in the Central South when it comes to education and business working together.

“We have the opportunity to lead the way in Life Sciences and the work at Salisbury Hospital underlines the ground-breaking work taking place on our doorstep.”
